    Happy New Year! With each year we move into the future, the closer we are to achieving interstellar travel. Btw, doesn’t Star Trek predict interstellar travel to begin around 2063 or something like that? Just curious.

    Yes, according to the 1996 film Star Trek: First Contact:

    If you are referring to manned FTL travel via warp drive.

    Otherwise interstellar missions in the Star Trek Universe
    started much earlier, at least going back to 2002 with the
    launch of the robot probe Nomad (“The Changeling”).

    But in the original series episode Space Seed, it was stated
    that sleeper ships which kept the crew in suspended animation
    were used until improvements in propulsion in 2018:

    So either way, we really got to get moving on this whole
    interstellar vehicle business!

    yes i could not agree more that we really have to get moving.you are 100% correct ljk,yes. as i have said to alot of people before here it is 2007 and we are still waiting for the technology depicted in “2001” !? in fact a friend told me that when that movie was made in the 60’S it was felt that by 2001 all of those things would certainly be in place…however now…some folks feel that it will take alot longer,sorry to have to report. thanks your friend george
